The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join a Federal Government agency to help their
Financial Accounting team with it's delivery of soft close, year-end financial statements and the submission of monthly and annual actuals to the via the Central Budget Management System (CBMS). These roles include maintaining and managing the departments asset register.
The Role
The role’s responsibilities will include:
• assisting with month-end processes including accrual processing and general ledger reconciliations
• preparing the CBMS monthly reporting
• managing the department’s fixed asset register and processing of external valuation results
• managing the department’s leases model
• managing the department’s inputs into the annual FBT return and monthly BAS
• preparing soft close and year-end financial statement work-papers and notes
• preparing accounting position papers
• working closely with teams to gather information and provide accounting advice
• driving innovation by managing and assisting in continuous improvement in financial management and business processes
Your Background and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
• experience working with accounting frameworks, preferably in a government context
• experience in the preparation and review of annual financial statements
• experience in fixed assets, loans, tax or treasury management
• a strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and the ability to apply this to government entities
• experience in providing accurate, timely and consistent advice and services to stakeholders
• working knowledge of the Australian Government financial framework
• well-developed skills in communication, analysis and problem solving
• curiosity, innovation and a drive for continuous improvement
Salary / Rate
- $80k - $100k
