Defence Science and Technology Group is uplifting internal research data management practice, aiming to make it easier for researchers to plan for, manage, share and archive research datasets.
Part of the Digital Science Branch, Research Data & Information (RDI) are implementing first iterations of a eResearch Planning and Provisioning tool and Data Catalogue to help manage Research Data within DSTG. The aim is to build a linked data environment using descriptive, machine readable metadata and persistent identifiers that can be queried using a powerful discovery layer that delivers excellent results and user experience.

The Role
The role’s responsibilities will include:
Design of an organisational RDM Concept/Model suited to the secure DSTG environment
Advice and solutions for complex research data management challenges including:
data provenance, versioning and derivatives;
sound implementation of persistent identifiers for research data management plans, research datasets and other research inputs/outputs;
data preservation;
harvesting/crosswalking of dataset metadata between repositories and aggregators o reporting to enable tracking of service adoption and effectiveness
Partnering with us on selection and implementation of an intuitive Discovery Layer to support dataset searching, discovery, access/permissions and reuse.
Your Background & Experience
The assessment criteria is as follows:
Comprehensive Research Data Management skills and experience
Proven experience partnering with Research Organisations to implement RDM methodologies and platforms
Expertise in advising on data management and discovery technical implementation
Understanding of ReDBox and how it can be integrated into an overarching RDM capability
