Specialist Engineer
Level 3 - Advanced Practitioner
24 month contract
The current Australian Defence Force (ADF) capability for Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (CIED) has been developed to address threats arising from operations through Joint Project 154 Phases 1 to 4, Rapid Acquisitions, and Operational Support. The capability includes: Force Protection Electronic Countermeasures (FPECM), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Robots, systems and facilities in support of CIED training, a CMD&V capability and a Deliberate Route Clearance capability.
Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare – Land Systems Program Office (ISREW-L SPO) employs a robust Engineering Management System (EMS) to progress these materiel systems through acquisition, sustainment and disposal.

Minimum Negative Vetting – Level 2 security clearance at the commencement of the contract

The Role
The role’s responsibilities will include:
Development and incorporation of ISREW-L upgrades (electronic, software) to the CIED Test Capability (CTC)
Design and construct (including software / firmware) RF devices (prototypes or low volume) in support of operations and SPO capability development, including their documentation and verification
Contribute to antenna modelling activity
Complete the engineering assessment of electronic systems managed by ISREW-L SPO and complete necessary documentation and activities to achieve Technical Certification
Provide engineering support to additional tasking from the ISREW-L Chief Engineer or Project Engineering Manager
Your Background & Experience
The assessment criteria is as follows:
Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Electrical, Electronics, Communications, or Telecommunications), eligible for Engineers Australia Membership, or recognised equivalent
Sufficient experience in the relevant area of practice to be eligible for chartered status with Engineers Australia
Experience working within a Technical Regulatory Framework
Experience with FPECM, CIED systems, and other EW systems
Knowledge and use of Spectrum analysers and other RF test equipment
Experience programming and writing support documentation for software
Laboratory and/or Field based testing of designs
Post-graduate qualifications in a relevant technical field
Chartered Professional Engineering status
