Headquarters Army Aviation Command is Army’s newest functional command. It is responsible for the command and control of Army Aviation units, training of combat aviators and the provision of airworthiness oversight for all of Army.
The Aviation Systems Section, Directorate of Aviation Capability Management (DACM) is the organization responsible for the in-service management and capability development of Army Aviation enabling and support systems. Specifically, off-aircraft aspects associated with ground and expeditionary systems, role equipment, personal equipment/ALSE, common training systems and C4I&EW. Aviation Systems does not manage or have any authority/responsibility for aircraft systems or configuration items.

The Role
The role’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide advice and where appropriate manage C4I&EW inputs to Aviation Systems Weapon System Support Plans (WSSP)
Develop and manage C4I&EW strategic plans in support of the force in being and objective force. Support DBAP in the development of plans for emerging major projects and the future force
Provide oversight and manage projects/activities associated with Army Avn C4I&EW - primarily the AMS (excluding air resource and scheduling capabilities such as AMRT), Communications, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management (CNS-ATM), common aircrew digital planning aids such as EFB, TDL and Land/Joint networks, BMS and the COP, Degraded Visual Environment (DVE) operations and any associated geospatial aspects
Develop systems, plans and policy to assure Army Aviation networks and C4I&EW systems are cyberworthy and are compliant to all related Joint and Land directives on cyberworthiness
Ensure all Army Aviation C4I&EW systems are compliant to relevant Landworthiness, Airworthiness and WHS/Commonwealth legislation where appropriate
Be prepared to support the management and development of off-aircraft EW support systems
Support the Army Avn strategic planning of C4I&EW capabilities, including the AMS, TDL/JDN, Joint/Land networks and the BMS/COP
Provide a coordination and secretariat function for Aviation Systems committees and working groups, including C4I&EW based activities. Includes C4I&EW Weapon System Working Groups and Aviation Weapon System Management Boards
Manage Aviation Systems C4I&EW staff – career, administrative and tasking/employment aspects. Educate, mentor and professionally develop staff
Your Background & Experience
The assessment criteria is as follows:
Defence and/or civil recognised qualifications in one or more of the following: radio frequency communications, ICT, security (ICT/cyber) or network management
Postgraduate qualifications in C4I, ICT engineering, electrical engineering, network engineering, systems engineering or a graduate of the Capability and Technology Management College (CTMC)
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK)
Experience as a C4I&EW practitioner or manager in a Defence context, or, experience as operational aircrew in a Defence context
CLC experience across requirement definition and acquisition phases as a minimum
Personnel management and team leadership experience
Test and evaluation experience
Project management experience
Defence financial and product schedule management experience
