Systems Safety Engineer
Level 3 - Advanced Practitioner
12 month contract
The initial focus of the role will be to support delivery of First Pass engineering material and documentation; with longer term work related to engineering design, development and support in one of the two Tranches.

The Role
The role’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Report to the Engineering Manager and Project Manager and achieve complex systems safety engineering project work within an integrated workforce under broad direction
Lead, plan, develop and deliver the project safety program, with an emphasis on establishing a preliminary hazard assessment and agreed safety criteria with the Army Project Sponsor
Be accountable for delivering project outputs that comply with relevant legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks (specifically those relating to safety) and Defence quality and configuration management systems.
Be accountable for exercising any assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.
Deliver detailed technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex project and systems safety engineering work and contribute to strategic planning and management of the project.
Work collaboratively and develop and maintain beneficial, effective relationships with the customer, colleagues and other stakeholders
Your Background & Experience
The role requires demonstrated experience in:
Developing and managing a System Safety program in the CASG environment, including the conduct of System Safety Working Groups
Developing, reviewing, assessing and evaluating System Safety documentation, including safety program plans, hazard analyses (including software safety hazard analysis), hazard logs, safety case reports and technical safety reports
Conducting engineering activities relevant to the acquisition of capability in a complex Defence environment (including technical certification)
Supporting complex procurement activities including development of solicitation documentation (statements of work and statements of requirement) and the review and evaluation of responses to market approaches
Investigation, analysis and reporting on systems safety engineering defects and requirements, along with developing and implementing recommendations and advice to address issues
Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics/Computers/Communications/Networking or similar)
